Marshall Ski Lakes

Marshall Ski Lakes is a private 100-acre campground at Chevallum in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, built around man-made lakes used for water skiing and jet skiing. The draw is space: generous grassed camping pads spread across rural acreage around a private lake, at around $30 a night for a site. It takes everything from a swag or tent through to big rigs, with powered sites, glamping options and hot showers available.

Dogs at the Marshall Ski Lakes

Dogs are welcome in the camping areas on leads at all times, with no published pet fee or size limit, so it is an easy yes for travelling caravanners and campers. The one rule that matters most is water safety: this is a working ski venue, so keep your dog well clear of the lake edge whenever boats and jet skis are running. There is no off-lead play here, so plan exercise around walks on the lead through the acreage.

Pepsi: this suits a dog that shrugs off engine noise. If jet skis send yours into a barking spin, look at a quieter property further into the hinterland.

The vibe

Roomy, rural and uncrowded, with lake views from most pads, campfires permitted outside fire bans, and a helpful caretaker regularly called out in reviews. Wakeboarding, jet skiing and fishing fill the days for the humans. The facilities are basic, with toilets and optional hot showers rather than a full amenity block, which is part of the price point.

Getting there and parking

The entrance is at 1 Leafy Lane, Chevallum. Drive through the concrete pillars and follow the signs for friends and family camping on the right. Book by phone ahead of arrival to confirm your pad and current rates, especially on ski weekends.

Make a day of it

The coast is close enough for a run: the Twin Waters off-leash dog beach at the Maroochy River mouth is about 20 minutes away, and the Nambour Dog Agility Park gives a leashed dog a proper workout. Coffee on the drive back is easy at Evolution Espresso at Sippy Downs.
