Nambour Dog Agility Park

The Nambour Dog Agility Park is a fenced dog park set along Petrie Creek near the end of Petrie Park Road in Nambour, with agility equipment for dogs to work through. The secured perimeter is the draw: it suits recall training and dogs that do better inside a fence.

The dog setup

The fenced area is off-leash at all times, with agility gear for structured play, shaded benches and picnic tables for owners, and natural shade for dogs to rest between runs. Rubbish bins are on site. Even off leash, dogs should be under effective voice control, and owners need to pick up after them.

If your dog is using the agility equipment, keep an eye on them so they take the obstacles safely, and give way to any dog already mid-course. The surface is grass and can be damp underfoot after rain, so expect a mucky car on the way home.

Worth knowing

Being creek-side, expect water dragons and the odd snake in warmer months, so keep dogs away from the banks. Traffic noise from the surrounding roads is the other common note about this park, so noise-sensitive dogs may take a few visits to settle.

Pepsi: a fenced agility park next to a creek is a training goldmine. Do the equipment first while your dog is fresh, then let the free play happen.

It is busiest on Sunday mornings and midweek afternoons. For more space, especially with a shy or in-training dog, a weekday morning or Friday afternoon is the quieter play, and the shade makes even warm visits workable.

Getting there

Access is off Petrie Park Road with parking near the park, and it is close to central Nambour, a short walk or quick drive from the train station. The proximity to town makes it an easy before-work or lunch-break run for locals.

Close by with the dogs

The Petrie Park Dog Off Leash Area is in the same pocket for a different style of run, and the Gary Evans Walkway adds an easy on-lead stretch. Banksia Espresso in town is a coffee stop afterwards.
