Kimnat Cafe

Kimnat Cafe is a Vietnamese-fusion brunch spot in a heritage Queenslander at 14 Blackall Street, Woombye, and dogs are welcome in the garden out the back. It is a hinterland venue with a proper kitchen, not a coffee counter, and the garden setting makes it one of the more comfortable places on the Sunshine Coast to linger over brunch with a dog.

The dog setup

Dogs settle in the shaded garden area behind the cafe rather than the indoor dining room, and water bowls are put out for visiting dogs. Keep your dog leashed and calm so the garden stays comfortable for everyone sharing it. Outdoor tables are first come, first served, so on weekends aim early; a quiet weekday morning is the easiest way to get the garden to yourself.

The vibe and the menu

The menu leans Vietnamese-inspired brunch: pho-spiced soup, a modern banh mi, buckwheat pancakes and smoothies, with unusually strong vegan and gluten-free options for a small country town. It has a relaxed local feel rather than a tourist crowd, despite sitting close to the Big Pineapple. Hours are Tuesday to Friday from 7:30am to 1:30pm, weekends from 7am, and it closes Mondays.

Getting there and parking

Kimnat sits in the middle of Woombye township with street parking along Blackall Street. The Big Pineapple grounds are a short drive away for a leg stretch afterwards, and the off-lead area at Petrie Park in Nambour is a few minutes up the road for a proper run. If you are making a weekend of it, the Sunshine Coast Motor Lodge is a local dog-friendly base, and The Woombye Pub covers the other end of the day.
