Dairy Road Precinct Paths

The Dairy Road precinct in Fyshwick links old industrial buildings, native gardens and outdoor art with flat, step-free paths. Dogs are welcome on a lead, which makes it a relaxed stroll between coffee and a brewery rather than a bush walk.

Leads and the wetlands

ACT rules apply on public paths, so dogs stay on a lead and under effective control. The precinct is looked after by the ACT Government's City Services together with the developer, Molonglo.

Dogs are not allowed in the neighbouring Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve. Keep to the precinct paths and open spaces rather than following the wetland tracks.

The walk

Hard, accessible paths connect the warehouses and grassed open spaces, with art installations and native planting along the way. It is short and even, easy for senior dogs and anyone pushing a pram.

Bring water for the dog, especially on a warm Canberra afternoon.

Make a day of it

The Pialligo Bakesmith is close by in Pialligo, and ONA Coffee House Cafe Fyshwick is another easy coffee stop in Fyshwick.

For something greener, the Pialligo Redwood Forest has a 3-kilometre track under the trees where dogs on leads are permitted.

It is best as a warm-up or cool-down around a café visit, any time of day.
