Brodburger

Brodburger serves its flame-grilled gourmet burgers out of the Capital Brewing Co taproom at Building 3, 1 Dairy Road in Fyshwick, and the pairing puts this among the most genuinely dog-friendly feeds in Canberra: dogs are welcome in the courtyard and picnic areas and inside the taproom itself, not just parked on a footpath outside.

The dog setup

Dogs on a lead are welcome across the taproom, courtyard and picnic areas, and Capital Brewing is properly set up for them, with water bowls around the venue and staff who are used to canine regulars. Treats appear from time to time, but pack a couple of your own to be sure. It is a busy, open, family-friendly space, so a settled dog that copes with crowds and other dogs does best here.

The vibe and the food

The burgers are flame-grilled with the signature Brod sauce: the Original in beef, lamb, chicken, fish or vegie builds, the Brod Slaw with bacon and coleslaw, and the Broddog for the hot dog camp. Sides run to loaded fries, onion rings and mac and cheese balls, all built to pair with a Capital Brewing beer fresh off the tap. Doors for food run Monday and Sunday from 11:30am to 8pm, Tuesday to Thursday to 8:30pm and Friday and Saturday to 9pm. Weekends get lively, so noise-shy dogs do better off-peak.

Getting there and parking

The Dairy Road precinct has ample free all-day visitor parking across several car parks, so arriving by car with a dog is easy, and the walk from any of the precinct car parks to the taproom is short. The precinct itself is walkable on-lead if you want to stretch legs before or after.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-leash run to balance the busy taproom, Yarralumla Dog Park is the nearest fully fenced ACT option, about ten minutes west on Banks Street, with separate large and small dog enclosures. The Kingston foreshore is a short drive for an on-leash lakeside wander, and coffee makes a decent chaser at ONA Coffee House Cafe or Lonsdale St Roasters, both in Fyshwick.

Pepsi: Go early on a Saturday, run the dog at Yarralumla first, then claim a courtyard table while the taproom is still quiet enough for a nervous dog to settle.
