Yarralumla Dog Park

Yarralumla Dog Park on Banks Street is a fenced, purpose-built off-leash park with separate sections for big and small dogs, sitting close to Yarralumla Bay and the lake path, which makes it an easy base for a longer outing.

The rules. The fenced area is off-leash, but owners need voice control and dogs in sight at all times. Aggressive or reactive dogs need to be removed straight away if there is a problem. Picking up after your dog is expected, and waste bag dispensers are kept stocked given how heavily this park gets used.

What's there. Secure perimeter fencing runs the whole park, with separate fenced sections for big dogs and small dogs so nervous or smaller pups aren't overwhelmed. There is a water station on-site, though a few reviewers have noted it can run dry at busy times, so carrying your own water is a sensible backup. Some natural shade is available but it is not extensive.

Getting there. Access is via Novar Street, with free parking nearby. It sits centrally enough that it's an easy detour from most of the inner south, and the lakeside cycleway and walking path run close by for a longer loop afterwards.

Nearby with the dogs. Beess & Co Cafe on Bentham Street has a shaded, dog-friendly courtyard a few minutes away. Farmers Daughter, also on Bentham Street, has outdoor tables that welcome dogs. Yarralumla Bay District Park next door has further off-leash space and a designated dog swimming spot at Orana Bay.

Weekday mornings or late weekday afternoons are the quiet window. Saturday and Sunday mornings draw a real crowd, great for social dogs, less so for shy ones.
