QT Canberra

QT Canberra is the design-forward hotel near the Parliamentary Triangle, known for quirky styling and a central location, and it takes dogs through its Pup Yeah! package. That matters: this is a dedicated pet-stay rate rather than an open pets-allowed policy, so booking the standard rate and turning up with a dog does not work. Book the package and the dog is expected.

Dogs at QT Canberra

The Pup Yeah! package welcomes dogs generally under 25kg, with larger dogs considered if you phone the hotel ahead of booking. It is a maximum of one dog per room. Dogs must be fully house-trained, kept on lead in public areas, and never left alone in the room. The pet stay is usually built into the package rate, with an additional fee of around $40 per night applying to stays beyond 3 nights, so confirm the current fee and any weight exception directly with the hotel. Because the dog cannot be left alone, plan your day around it: Canberra's museums and Parliament House are not dog-friendly, but the lake circuit is.

The vibe

Rooms come with the QT touches: mini bar, quirky decor, king beds and balconies in some room types, with city and fireworks views from the upper floors. Guest feedback notes some older, tired rooms, so it is worth checking the room type when you book. It suits owners after a central, characterful stay who can work within the one-dog, on-lead, never-alone rules.

Out with the dog nearby

The central location puts you within reach of Lake Burley Griffin, where the Molonglo River and Lake Burley Griffin loop track makes a long on-lead foreshore walk. Note that parts of the lake foreshore sit on national land under NCA rules, so read the zoning signs. ACT rules require effective control everywhere, dogs kept 10 metres from play spaces and BBQs in use, and bags carried.
