Docklands Promenade

Docklands and South Wharf share a connected run of waterfront promenades along the Yarra, from South Wharf Promenade to Victoria Harbour. Dogs are welcome, on lead on the paths.

Lead rules

The City of Melbourne and Development Victoria manage the precinct. Keep dogs leashed on the promenades.

For off-lead time, nearby Point Park has a designated off-leash zone.

The walk

Surfaces are paved concrete, asphalt and timber boardwalk. You pass historic cargo sheds, glass towers, the Webb and Bolte bridges and colourful moored boats.

Make a day of it

The General Assembly in South Wharf is a good place to finish, and the Port Melbourne and Albert Park Loop suits a longer outing.

When to go

It is flat and paved the whole way, so it suits older dogs. Bring water for the dog, and choose a shorter stretch on hot days when the boardwalk warms up.
