Hidden Valley Reserve Trail

Hidden Valley Reserve in Currumbin Waters protects a remnant of blackbutt forest, and its dirt track is a genuine bushwalk on the southern Gold Coast. Dogs come on lead only.

Lead rules

The City of Gold Coast requires dogs on lead at all times. The reserve shelters endangered ecosystems and wildlife such as swamp wallabies, echidnas and sugar gliders.

The walk

Expect natural dirt and stone with steps and some steep pinches. Canopy shade covers much of the way, with ridge views in places.

The track links toward the Currumbin Border Trail for a longer outing.

Before you set out

There is no water, no toilets and few if any bins. Carry water and a bowl, and take your dog's waste home.

Max: Echidnas and wallabies use this forest. Keep the lead short and your dog's nose out of the undergrowth.

Make a day of it

Head down to Currumbin afterwards for a coffee at Cafe by the Bridge.

Street parking is near the main access on Border Drive North. It suits fit dogs, and cooler mornings make the climbs easier.
