Pyramid Holiday Park - Budget Cabin - External Ensuite

Pyramid Holiday Park on Kennedy Drive in Tweed Heads West is one of the few caravan parks in the Tweed area where dogs can sleep in a cabin rather than being limited to campsites. The Budget Cabin with external ensuite is one of the selected cabin types the park approves for pets, and it keeps the price down for travellers crossing the NSW-Queensland border with a dog in the back.

Dogs at the park

Pets are permitted only on allocated pet-friendly powered sites and in selected Budget Cabins, and every pet booking has to be approved by management first. Book directly with reception rather than through standard online channels, and confirm the specific cabin is pet-approved for your dates; the limit is one pet per site unless management authorises otherwise. The fee is $10 per pet per night plus a $50 pet bond that is fully refundable.

Once you are in, the rules are clear: dogs stay on a lead of up to two metres whenever they are outside your cabin or site. The park has a dedicated fenced off-leash area where your dog can run free, which is unusual for a park this close to the coast. Dogs are not allowed inside the reception and kiosk, the games room, the amenities blocks or laundry, the camp kitchen, the playground, the pool area or the BBQ areas, and none of the standard cabins accept pets at all. Clean up immediately and use the bins provided.

Worth knowing

The external ensuite is the practical drawcard here: the bathroom sits outside the cabin itself, so a sandy or muddy dog is less of a problem at the end of a beach day. Get your pet approval confirmed in writing when you book, because a verbal yes over the phone does not always match what the booking system shows on arrival.
