Bracalba Running Trails

The Bracalba Running Trails wind through open eucalypt forest in Beerburrum West State Forest, and dogs are allowed. That's worth knowing, because the Glass House Mountains national park areas next door ban them.

Lead rules

In state forest, dogs must stay on a leash and under control at all times, and they can't stay overnight. Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service manages the area.

Stick to the state forest trails, as dogs are banned from the national park sections nearby.

The walk

Tracks are unsealed dirt, single track and old forestry roads, and they turn muddy after rain. Walkers share them with runners, mountain bikers and horse riders.

The main access is off McConnell Road, with roadside parking, and there's a second staging area on O'Shea Road.

Max: No bins and no water out here. Carry bags and a full bottle, and pack everything out.

Phillies on Beerburrum is the nearby spot for a coffee after the walk.

When to go

Forest canopy shades most of the network, so it works on warmer days too. Skip it after heavy rain, and keep your dog close when bikes and horses pass.
