Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge

Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge is a boutique, eco-conscious lodge at 198 Barrs Road in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, roughly ten minutes from Australia Zoo, with twelve individually furnished rooms, gardens, a dining carriage, community kitchen and orchard. Dogs are welcome, but only in the Bungalow rooms, so the room type you book decides whether the dog comes in.

Dogs at the Ecolodge

Only Bungalow rooms are approved for pet stays, with a maximum of two dogs per booking. A $50 per pet extra-cleaning fee applies, plus a $100 refundable deposit handled at check-in and checkout, and pet cages are available on request. Dogs must stay on lead anywhere on the property, are not permitted in the common areas or the on-site Fairy Forest, and cannot enter the adjacent national park bushland. Cats are not accepted.

The place

The lodge is built around a slower, nature-based stay rather than a resort experience, and guests rate the quiet, cosy setting, comfortable beds and the novelty of breakfast in a dining carriage. It suits owners of one or two well-behaved, leashed dogs who want a calm base between hinterland drives and are happy to pay the pet fee and deposit upfront. Think of it as a wind-down spot: save the big runs for a dedicated dog park and let the property be the quiet part of the day.

Max: this is a leash-everywhere property, so a dog that needs to sprint is the wrong fit. What it does well is a calm evening under the mountains after a morning out.

Getting there and parking

The lodge sits on Barrs Road, accessed via Steve Irwin Way, with free self-parking on site. Beerwah is five to seven minutes away and covers the practicalities, with pet supply shops and cafes offering dog-friendly outdoor seating. Book the Bungalow well ahead; the pet rooms are a small slice of a twelve-room property.

Close by with the dogs

Dogs are barred from the Glass House Mountains national park tracks, so hike the peaks without the dog or head instead to the Mill Park Fenced Dog Park at Beerwah for a run.
