What visitors mention
Pioneer Park is Landsborough's fully fenced, off-leash dog park on Caloundra Street, with separate runs for large and small dogs and enough shade to make it usable through the warmer months. The secure double-fencing and the split yards are the reason to come, especially if you have a nervous or small dog who does better away from the boisterous end.
The rules. Keep your dog on lead until you are inside the fenced enclosure, then it is off-leash within the fence. Use the correct yard for your dog's size, supervise at all times, and pull an over-excited or aggressive dog out before it becomes a problem. Clean up after your dog; bins are provided.
What's there. Two interconnected fenced sections, a large or medium yard and a separate small-dog yard, on grass with mature trees for shade. There are water points and bowls, bench seating for owners, and an agility feature or two. The park sits alongside the main Pioneer Park, which has toilets, barbecues and picnic tables, plus the all-abilities playground next door.
Getting there. On Caloundra Street, reached via Steve Irwin Way, with free on-site parking. It is an easy walk from Landsborough train station on the Sunshine Coast line, which makes it a rare off-leash park you can reach without a car.
Nearby with the dogs. The Landsborough township cafes are a short drive for a post-run coffee, and the Ewen Maddock Dam tracks are close by for a longer on-lead bushwalk.
When to go. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest. It fills up on Sunday mornings, weekday late afternoons and across Saturday, so pick a weekday evening if your dog prefers a calmer crowd.
