Brockhurst Farm

Brockhurst Farm is a 22-acre working farm at 2250 Mt Mee Road in Ocean View, up in the D'Aguilar ranges about an hour north-west of Brisbane. The reason to bring the dog is simple: all three self-contained cabins are fully dog-fenced, so your mate gets a rural escape instead of a boarding kennel, with mountain views and Brisbane's city lights visible after dark.

Dogs at the Brockhurst Farm

Dogs are welcome in every cabin at no published fee, but tell management you are bringing one when you book. The ground rules come straight from the farm: cabins are fully dog-fenced, and dogs can sleep on the verandah or on their own bed inside, though furniture and carpet are off limits. Water bowls are provided; bring your own bedding. Dogs must stay on a lead when moving around the property, which matters because this is a working farm with horses, cows, sheep, goats and chickens. If you head out without the dog, it must come with you or be locked on the verandah, never left loose inside the cabin. Leave a phone number with management in case there is a problem, control excessive barking, and clean up any mess.

The spring-fed dam is open to swimming dogs, and scenic walks cross the property. Parking sits next to your cabin, which makes unloading crates and gear easy.

Max: A fenced cabin, a dam to swim in and a short-lead rule near the livestock is a working-farm stay done properly. Keep the lead on near the chooks even if your recall is usually solid.

Getting there and close by

Worth knowing

This suits dogs comfortable around farm animals and owners after peace and quiet rather than entertainment. A persistent barker is a poor fit for the shared farm setting.
