Mervyn Kenman Park Fenced Dog Park

Mervyn Kenman Park off Brecklyn Close is Dayboro's fully fenced dog park, and the reason to point the car at town if your dog needs a proper run rather than another lead walk. The City of Moreton Bay runs it as two separate enclosures, so smaller or slower dogs can keep clear of the big, fast crowd.

The dog setup

Off-leash is strictly inside the fenced enclosures, which are generally split into a large-dog and a small-dog side. Everywhere else in the wider park, including paths and picnic corners, dogs stay on lead. You are responsible for your dog the whole time: keep them in sight, do not leave them unattended and pick up after them. There is a modest agility setup inside for a bit of extra stimulation, and the secure outer fencing means you can relax about the road while the game is on. Check the signage on arrival, as council conditions can change.

The vibe

Sunday mornings are the social peak, with a regular crowd and a community basket of balls by the gate. Weekday mornings and evenings are quiet with the whole enclosure to yourself. A covered shelter with seating sits alongside, and dog water taps plus a bag dispenser cover the basics, though carrying your own bags is the safer bet. Shade is patchy in the afternoon, so on a hot Queensland day go early and bring water even with the taps on site.

Max: check who is already in the enclosure before you let yours off. The two gates make it easy to pick the calmer side on a busy morning.

Getting there and parking

The entrance is off Brecklyn Close, just off Mount Samson Road, with accessible parking near the fenced entry. Public transport is limited to regional bus links towards Petrie, so driving is by far the easiest way in.

Make a day of it

Town is two or three minutes away. Silverwood Cafe and the Dayboro Bakery both welcome dogs at their outdoor tables, making an easy coffee stop after the run. If you are making a weekend of it, the Dayboro Showgrounds Camping grounds sit in town and take dogs.
