Beeliar Regional Park

Beeliar Regional Park is not one walk but a chain of wetlands and bushland reserves stretching across Perth's southern suburbs, from Bibra Lake and North Lake down to The Spectacles. Dogs can come to some parts of it, always on a lead.

Where dogs fit in

The park is managed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions alongside the Cities of Cockburn, Kwinana and Melville. Dogs are allowed only in designated areas, and the lead stays on the whole time.

Much of the park is conservation land, so check the signs at each entry before you set off.

Underfoot

Around the busier hubs such as Bibra Lake you get hard multi-use paths that suit a steady walk. In the conservation sections, including The Spectacles, the tracks turn sandy or run on modified limestone.

Expect open water edged with paperbarks, plenty of native waterbirds and a lot of local plant life.

Max: Where dogs may go changes from one part of the park to the next. Read the sign at each entry and keep the lead on.

Make a day of it

If the dog still needs a run afterwards, the South Lake Fenced Dog Park is close, and Sul Lago Lifestyle in Beeliar is handy for a coffee.

The paved lake paths suit older dogs best. Save the sandy bush tracks for cooler mornings.
