South Lake Fenced Dog Park

South Lake Fenced Dog Park on Briggs Street is a fully fenced, free off-leash park run by the City of Cockburn with two completely separate grassy enclosures, so big dogs and small dogs get their own yard instead of negotiating one shared space. It is open around the clock and does its job without fuss.

The dog setup

Both enclosures are fully fenced with double-gated entrances, so there is no gap for a dog to slip out while you come and go. Use the run that matches your dog's size; the separation is the whole point of the layout. Each run has agility equipment for a proper workout, water taps with bowls, waste bins and bag dispensers, so the packing list is short. Stay inside with your dog, keep them supervised and under voice control, and leash up and leave if things turn aggressive, per council rules. Dogs should be vaccinated and socialised before joining a fenced park like this.

Worth knowing

Shade is the one real gap. There is very little natural cover or sheltered seating, so on a Perth summer day this is a morning job, not a midday one; bring water in hot weather and watch for heat coming off the open grass. Early mornings and after 5pm on weekdays draw locals finishing work, and weekend mornings are the busiest stretch. Late morning to early afternoon mid-week is the quiet window if your dog prefers space.

The park sits at 29 Briggs Street, South Lake, close to the Kwinana Freeway, which makes it an easy detour for commuters. Free parking is nearby, and Transperth buses serve the area if you are not driving.
