Yaran Suites Rockingham

Yaran Suites Rockingham is a row of fully furnished self-contained apartments at 12 Westralia Gardens, a short drive from the Rockingham foreshore, and it takes dogs inside the apartments with you rather than leaving them in an external kennel area. For anyone travelling down the coast with a dog, that single fact does most of the work: a full kitchen, laundry and a lounge room where the dog is allowed to settle for the whole stay.

One pet per apartment is the rule, and the dog has to be declared before check-in. Budget for a non-refundable $110 pet fee for extra cleaning, plus a refundable $200 pet bond on top of the standard security bond, returned a couple of days after departure if there is no damage. Declare the dog up front: the terms are explicit that an undeclared pet has the fee deducted from the standard deposit instead. The apartments provide no pet gear, so pack a bed, bowls, food and waste bags.

The vibe

These are home-away apartments rather than serviced hotel rooms: full kitchen and laundry, air conditioning and Wi-Fi, with guest topics regularly mentioning clean, modern rooms and balcony views. Keyless coded entry and gate access make a late arrival straightforward after the drive south of Perth.

Getting there and parking

Rockingham is about 45 minutes south of Perth by car, and the suites sit central to the town with free on-site self-parking. The foreshore and its dining strip are only a few minutes away, which matters when you want to walk somewhere rather than drive the dog again.

Close by with the dogs

The Rockingham Fenced Dog Park gives the dog a proper off-lead run minutes from the door, and Warnbro Dog Beach down the coast is a good morning swim spot. On the foreshore, Spill the Beans at Palm Beach Jetty has outdoor tables that take dogs.
