Rockingham Enclosed Dog Park, at Bayview Reserve, is a fully fenced off-leash park run by the City of Rockingham, built around a 1.8-metre perimeter fence and split into a small-dog area and a general all-dogs area. The fencing is the reason to come - it is a safe, controlled space for dogs that need a secure run.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced zones but must stay under effective control. Use the right enclosure for your dog's size, clean up after them, and make sure your dog is comfortable sharing space with others before you go in.

What's there. Two separated fenced areas (a 1.5-metre internal divider between them), dog water stations, owner seating, shade trees, and agility-style features like logs, stumps and limestone boulders. Wheelchair accessible.

Getting there. Bayview Reserve, off Bay View Street, Rockingham, with on-site parking. The Mandurah train line to Rockingham Station plus a local bus gets you close, but a car is the most direct option.

Nearby with the dogs. The Rockingham Beach Road cafe strip, a short drive away, has plenty of dog-friendly outdoor seating for a coffee afterwards.

Max: if your dog is nervous, come mid-morning on a weekday - late afternoons and weekend mornings are the busy, high-energy windows.

Best mid-week mornings for a quieter run; expect a crowd at weekday evenings and weekend mid-mornings.
