Jaffelato

Jaffelato is a casual foreshore cafe on Rockingham Beach Road built around gourmet jaffles and gelato, with the coastal walking strip right across the road. It is a quick, friendly stop rather than a sit-down institution, and the outdoor tables are where the dogs go, with a Doggocino on the menu if yours is due a treat.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath and alfresco tables, which keep your dog beside you while you eat. Staff are used to four-legged customers and water bowls are usually around, though packing your own covers the busy stretches. There is no inside access for pets, so on a wet day this becomes a takeaway-and-walk plan instead.

Worth knowing

The menu is compact and well liked: loaded gourmet jaffles, a rotating gelato cabinet with dairy-free flavours, shakes, chai lattes and decent coffee. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are covered too, which makes group orders easier. Hours run from 6am, with a 2:30pm finish on weekdays and 4:30pm on weekends, so it is a morning-and-lunch kind of place.

Getting there and parking

Find it at 3A/1 Rockingham Beach Road, in the strip by the foreshore. Free street and off-street parking sits nearby, though it tightens up on peak summer weekends when the beach crowd arrives.

Close by with the dogs

The Rockingham Foreshore Reserve path runs directly across the road for an on-lead leg-stretch, and Churchill Park down the road has grass for a longer wander; check council signage for designated off-leash zones before unclipping. The Rockingham Fenced Dog Park handles a full run, and Spill the Beans at Palm Beach Jetty is the other foreshore pour.
