Discovery Parks - Barossa Valley is a large holiday park in Tanunda with cabins, glamping tents and powered sites, and it welcomes dogs in selected accommodation. It is a practical, family-friendly base for exploring the Barossa with a dog in tow, walking distance from the town's main street.

Dogs at the park

Dogs are allowed overnight in select Economy and Standard cabins and on camping and caravan sites. Dogs of any size are generally permitted, and there is often no additional pet fee, though that is worth confirming when you book. Pets must not be left unattended in rooms or cabins and should be kept on a lead within the park. Pet-friendly cabins are limited, so request one specifically rather than assuming any cabin will do.

The place

The park is set up for families, with a heated pool, splash park, jumping pillow and clean cabins among the review highlights, plus glamping safari tents for the less equipped. It is a busy, well-run park rather than a quiet retreat, so pack a dog that copes with company and keep the lead on around the grounds.

Getting there and nearby

Tanunda sits on the Barossa Valley Way about an hour's drive northeast of Adelaide, and the park is close to town, so groceries, the vet and the cellar doors are all a short drive away. The streets around the park and the town's edge suit on-lead walks in the cooler parts of the day.

Close by with the dogs

Several Barossa cellar doors welcome dogs on their lawns and outdoor areas: Turkey Flat Vineyards and Artisans of Barossa are both in town, and Wohlers Cafe on Murray Street handles breakfast before you start. Do your research on which doors take dogs before you plan a route, and never leave the dog in the car between stops.
