Rehn Bier Brewery

Rehn Bier is a family-run micro-brewery and cellar door at 75 Magnolia Road, Tanunda, pouring small-batch craft beer in the heart of the Barossa Valley about an hour from Adelaide. It is genuinely dog friendly, with water bowls out for visiting dogs, which makes it an easy stop on a Barossa beer crawl.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome both inside the cellar door and out on the covered patio, so you are not stuck choosing between weather and your dog. The room is casual and intimate, sitting close to the brewing gear, and the staff are used to four-legged regulars. Keep dogs on lead around other guests, and take advantage of the water bowls provided rather than hauling your own.

The vibe

The draw is the range: around a dozen taps flowing with handcrafted, old-world style beers, with the stout, ginger beer and tasting paddles drawing particular praise. Live music and open-mic nights run at times, and take-home options are available if a paddle turns into a favourite. Check what is on before you head out, as the entertainment calendar changes.

Max: order the tasting paddle. With a dozen taps of small-batch beer, picking one glass is the wrong call, and the dog gets a longer rest on the patio floor while you work through it.

Getting there and parking

The brewery sits on Magnolia Road a short drive from central Tanunda, with on-site parking available. It opens from 11am daily, with evening closings that vary across the week, so time a late-afternoon visit carefully on Mondays to Wednesdays.

Several Magnolia Road and nearby cellar doors welcome dogs outdoors, including Artisans of Barossa just outside central Tanunda, where dogs on leads are welcome on the lawn. The Turkey Flat Vineyards cellar door is another close option, and the Nuriootpa Fenced Dog Park gives the dog a run if the day is all cellar doors.
