SALT at Currarong Beach

SALT at Currarong Beach is a six-bedroom holiday house in the heart of Currarong village on the Beecroft Peninsula, about a two-minute walk from Currarong Beach, and dogs of any size are explicitly welcome. For a group trip where nobody wants to leave the dog in kennels, it is a rare find: a genuinely large house that takes big dogs without a size cap.

The detail that matters most for dog owners is the yard: the rear garden is fenced along the sides but opens straight onto Jervis Bay National Park bushland at the back, so it is not secure for an off-lead dog. The front balcony is the spot to safely secure your dog for short spells, and you should bring leads and a plan for containment rather than assuming the garden does the job.

There is no extra pet fee beyond the standard booking and cleaning charges, but confirm the terms with the host when you book, and note that dogs must be up to date on flea and tick treatment. Cats are generally not accepted.

The house is built for group stays, with room for large families or several couples, a fully equipped kitchen and a lock-up garage for bikes and beach gear. Out and about from Currarong

Currarong Beach allows dogs off-lead in designated early morning and evening windows under Shoalhaven City Council rules, so check the signage for the current hours. On the bushwalking side, remember that Booderee National Park and the Jervis Bay National Park sections behind the village are strictly no-dog areas, and that includes the unfenced back garden boundary, so keep your dog on-lead around the park edges. For a meal or coffee run, Benny's Cafe at Culburra Beach and The Little Snapper are the closest dog-friendly eats, about 15 minutes away.
