Abrahams Bosom Reserve Tracks

On the Beecroft Peninsula at Currarong, the tracks through Abrahams Bosom Reserve take you past sandstone cliffs, rocky coves and coastal heath with the ocean opening up at the lookouts. Unlike many national parks on the South Coast, this reserve lets dogs come along on a lead.

Leads and the rules

Shoalhaven City Council manages the reserve, and dogs must be on-leash at all times. Carry bags and take waste out with you, as bins are only near the car park and picnic area.

The walks

There is a spread of options, from a 30-minute wander to two or three hours on Coomie's Walk, Marion's Way or the Wreck Walk. The Wreck Walk heads to Whale Point, where the SS Merimbula came to grief.

Expect dirt tracks, rough sections, exposed rock and patches of sand. Much of it runs through heath, fern forest and bush, so there is good shade on the way.

Pepsi: There is no fresh water out on the tracks, so pack plenty for both of you.

Getting started

Park for free at the reserve entry off Beecroft Parade, where there are also toilets.

The shade makes this workable on warmer days, but the longer walks and uneven ground suit fit, sure-footed dogs best.
