Holiday Haven Currarong

The lead. Holiday Haven Currarong is a beachside caravan park on the northern shore of Jervis Bay, right by Currarong Creek and the village beach. Dogs are welcome, but only in specific cabins and sites, only by prior arrangement, and not during the park's busiest holiday blackout dates.

The pet policy. Dogs are accepted at the manager's discretion and must be pre-booked, not just turned up with. Only designated dog-friendly cabins (Sandpiper Cabins 17 and 18) and specific powered caravan and camping sites take pets, so ask for a dog-friendly site by name when you book. A cleaning fee applies to dog-friendly cabin bookings, and you will likely need to sign a conditions-of-acceptance form for dogs at check-in. Dogs must stay on a lead within the park and are never left unattended in a cabin or at a site.

When you can't bring them. The park does not accept dogs during the Christmas school holidays, the October long weekend period, or Easter long weekend. Outside those peak windows, availability of the dog-friendly cabins and sites is limited, so book ahead rather than assuming a spot.

What's there. Free dog waste bags are provided around the park. The park itself has a tennis court, mini-golf and playgrounds for the rest of the family, plus direct access to Currarong Creek and the rockpools nearby.

Getting there. The park is at 8 Cambewarra Road, Currarong, at the end of the Beecroft Peninsula, roughly 25 minutes' drive from Nowra. Parking is provided with your site or cabin.

Nearby with the dogs. Currarong Beach in the village allows leashed dogs, and the wider Shoalhaven coast has several dog beaches with their own off-leash time windows worth checking before you go. Point Perpendicular and Honeymoon Bay are both a short drive away for walks.

When to go. Outside the blackout periods, midweek or shoulder season gives you the best shot at a dog-friendly cabin without a long wait list. Confirm the fee and paperwork at booking since terms can shift season to season.
