Unlike most parks around the bay, it is genuinely set up for dogs on both fronts: sites are pet-friendly year-round and a small number of villas are designated for guests travelling with dogs.

Dogs are welcome on powered and unpowered sites at roughly $10 per dog per night, and in designated pet-friendly villas at around $20 per dog per night, with a maximum of two pets per booking. Confirm both the fee and villa availability when you book, because parks revise pet rates seasonally. Inside the park dogs stay on a leash or tied up at your site at all times, cannot be left unattended in villas, vans or cars, and are kept out of the pool and barbecue areas. In the villas, dogs stay off furniture and beds. Well-behaved is the operating word: the policy expects dogs under control around other campers.

The vibe

This is a creek-side park for boat owners, kayakers and campers rather than a surf-front property: the private ramp launches small craft straight into Currambene Creek, the swimming pool covers the landlocked afternoons, and the Sea Dog breakfast van trades on-site on weekend mornings. Guest reviews put the rating on the water access and the relaxed setup. Woollamia itself is wetland and creek country, so the ocean beaches are a short drive away rather than at the gate.

Getting there and parking

The park is an easy run from Sydney or Canberra via Nowra, then east through Huskisson to Woollamia Road. Site parking is on your own site, and Huskisson's shops, breweries and bakeries are a five-minute drive or a decent walk around the creek.

Close by with the dogs

Shoalhaven City Council runs timed off-leash access on Huskisson Beach between Nowra Street and Tapalla Avenue: in summer that means 4pm to 8am, and in winter 3pm to 10am, so plan the beach run around those windows. Woollamia's creek reserves stay on-leash. The Huskisson to Vincentia Shared Path is the reliable on-lead option for a long leg stretch.
