The Little Snapper

The Little Snapper at 10 Fairlands Street is Culburra Beach's busy seafood restaurant, pouring local oysters and martinis a few streets back from the surf. Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome at the designated outdoor tables, which makes it the after-beach feed for Shoalhaven dog owners, though the outdoor seating is limited enough that timing matters.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the designated outdoor tables, kept on a lead and out of the service paths, with the indoor dining room off limits. The outdoor area is a specific zone and the venue fills, so plan ahead: arrive early or check with the restaurant that a dog table is free rather than chancing it at peak. Water bowls are not guaranteed, so pack one. It suits dogs that settle calmly in a busy outdoor setting.

The menu and the vibe

The kitchen is serious about local seafood: Jim Wild's Oysters by the half or full dozen, Australian tiger prawns with chipotle crema, and a grand seafood platter with crumbed crab claws, five-spice squid and battered fish. Battered fish and chips, calamari and gourmet burgers cover the casual end, and South Coast wines and beers back a cocktail list known for espresso and salted caramel martinis. Service runs from late morning, Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday dark.

Getting there and parking

The restaurant is in the Culburra Beach town centre, with free street parking on Fairlands Street and a nearby free car park, so arriving with a dog is easy.

Culburra Beach itself runs off-leash between Park Row and Tilbury Cove, in daylight saving from 4pm to 8am and the rest of the year from 3pm to 10am; keep to a lead outside that stretch, and steer clear of the Lake Wollumboola foreshore where dogs are banned for shorebirds. The Benny's Cafe covers the morning coffee run in town, and Loco Lane Mexican Cantina is another dog-friendly dinner option in the same strip.
