Frankies Coffee Van

Frankies Coffee Van is the morning institution of Culburra Beach, and it is about as dog-first as a coffee stop gets. Everything happens outdoors around the van: casual seating, grass, water bowls, and a constant rotation of local dogs on the morning-walk loop. It is also a not-for-profit operation, with proceeds going to the Shoalhaven Animal Shelter, so the dog focus runs deeper than the water bowls.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome throughout the open-air seating area, and the setup actively caters for them: bowls are standard, and the van keeps doggy ice cream on hand for warm days. Expect company, because this is a high-traffic spot for local dog walkers and most of them stop. Friendly, sociable dogs will be in their element; keep a lead on anyway, since the space is shared.

The coffee

The coffee itself is well regarded, with house-made treats alongside and chai masala and hot chocolate for the non-coffee crew. It runs mornings only, generally from 7am towards midday, so plan it into the walk rather than the afternoon.

Getting there and parking

The van sits within Culburra Beach's main strip area, with easy nearby parking, and it slots naturally onto a coastal walking loop that takes in the sand and the headland. Confirm the current spot and hours on the van's social pages before a special trip, as vans do shift.

Close by with the dogs
