StayCentral - Spacious Seaviews (Port Melbourne)

StayCentral's Spacious Seaviews is an eighth-floor apartment in the Bayshore complex at 57 Bay Street, Port Melbourne, about 150 metres from the beach, and it accepts dogs under StayCentral's published pet conditions. It is one of the few genuinely pet-friendly serviced apartments this close to the Port Melbourne waterfront, which normally belongs to hotels with strict no-pet rules.

Dogs at Spacious Seaviews

The rules come from StayCentral's terms and they are stricter than most holiday houses, so read them before booking. Your dog must be declared and approved at the time of booking; an undisclosed pet can end the booking without refund. A minimum pet-stay fee covers the extra cleaning. On arrival your dog needs to be freshly bathed and odour-free, must sleep on its own bedding, and is strictly off the furniture and human beds. Bathroom-trained means outdoor-trained only, with no pads. Dogs are never to be left unattended in the apartment, excessive barking is not tolerated in the complex, and extra laundry charges apply if pet hair turns up on the linen or cushions. Bring bedding, bowls and toys from home.

Max: book in the morning beach walk before you leave the dog alone, even for an hour. The no-unattended rule is enforced, not decorative.

The apartment

Being on the eighth floor of a modern complex, this is an apartment stay rather than a cottage with a yard: think lift access, bay views and a full kitchen, with Bay Street's shops and cafes at street level. It suits owners with a settled, apartment-savvy dog who want the waterfront on the doorstep.

Getting there

Bay Street runs from the water up towards the Westgate, and the apartment is an easy walk from the 109 tram route into the CBD. Undercover parking comes with the apartment, so arriving by car with a dog in the back is straightforward.

Close by with the dogs

Port Melbourne Dog Beach is the obvious draw, with year-round off-leash stretches of sand and shallow bay water a short walk away, and Howe Reserve Dog Off Leash Area covers the grass-run need inland. For coffee, Jack the Geezer up Bay Street in Middle Park is dog friendly.
