Noosa Pomona Retreat

Noosa Pomona Retreat is a private farm-stay on 30 acres of regenerating forest at 292 Pomona Kin Kin Road, Pinbarren, in the Noosa hinterland, with Mount Cooroora filling the view from the property. Dogs at the retreat

The policy is unusually explicit. Your first dog stays free as part of the rate, and each additional dog is $50 per night, approved and paid before check-in. Dogs must stay leashed in the common areas, cannot be left unattended at your accommodation, and stay off the furniture and beds. The property borders farmland and has onsite animals, so keep your dog under control around them. Bring your dog's own bedding, food and bowls. Guests mention the farm animals happily take carrots and apples if you want to bring a peace offering.

The place

The lodges and cabins are rustic-luxe rather than farmstay-rough: air conditioning, full kitchens, fire pits and outdoor areas, with wild kangaroos grazing the paddocks at dusk and an 8-review average near 4.9 that praises the cleanliness and the mountain outlook. It is a couples' retreat in format, so this suits two adults travelling with one or two well-mannered dogs rather than a big family pack.

Getting there and close by

The retreat is just north of Pomona village with free on-site parking, and Noosa Main Beach is about 30 minutes away. In Pomona, Drip Koffee House is the dog-friendly coffee stop and The Scullery Cafe covers breakfast in the village; in Cooroy, Fox and Hound Espresso is another dog-welcoming stop on the drive through. Mount Cooroora's summit track starts nearby but is a steep fitness test, so most dogs do better on the Noosa Trail Network's gentler sections.
