Fox and Hound Espresso

Fox and Hound Espresso is a small coffee bar set into a barber shop frontage on Maple Street, the main strip through Cooroy in the Noosa hinterland. It opens early, pours a coffee locals rate among the best in town, and treats dogs as part of the regular crowd.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables along Maple Street. It is a sidewalk setup, so keep your dog on lead and close to the table, and give the resident dog space until everyone has settled. The seating catches the morning sun, so in the warmer months look for a shaded spot and bring a water bowl rather than relying on one being out.

The vibe

This is a compact, cosy espresso bar rather than a full kitchen: quick bites, sweet treats and local baked goods alongside the coffee. Lattes made with honey are a house custom worth trying, and regulars credit the smooth, consistent pours for the reputation the little bar carries. With a resident dog on site, a well-behaved visitor dog raises no eyebrows at all.

Getting there and parking

Hours run 5:45am to 1pm Monday to Friday, 6:30am to 12:30pm Saturday and 6:30am to midday Sunday. Street parking runs along Maple Street, but it is the main shopping strip so it fills through the morning; the earlier you arrive, the easier the park.

Close by with the dogs

After coffee, the leafy main street and shaded side streets make an easy on-lead loop, and Kauri Park on the Sapphire Street side of town is Noosa Shire Council's designated off-leash dog exercise area in Cooroy. If you are making a morning of the hinterland, Jamaica Blue Cooroy is another cafe option in town, and Drip Koffee House at Pomona is one township over.
