Pomona Village Kitchen

Pomona Village Kitchen is the slow-food cafe and community hub at 2 Memorial Avenue in the middle of Pomona, and it has built a proper name as one of the Sunshine Coast hinterland's dog-friendly tables. Dogs join you in the outdoor seating, and the alleyway setting of eclectic, relaxed furniture makes it an easy place to park a settled dog while you work through a long breakfast.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating areas, kept on lead and stayed with at the table; indoors is people only. The outside setting is shaded enough for a well-behaved dog to settle through a meal, and staff generally sort water. It is a food-service venue, so the arrangement is a dog under the table rather than a run-around one, and weekend breakfast is the window when outside tables go quickest.

The vibe

The kitchen runs a slow-food philosophy: seasonal, organic and locally grown ingredients with low food mileage. Breakfast and lunch run 7:30am to 2pm every day, with eggs benedict, French toast, shakshuka and a Japanese karaage chicken salad among the regular orders, plus battered barramundi, gluten-free cakes and vegan options. An evening service also runs Wednesday to Saturday with small plates and drinks, though confirm dinner hours before you plan around them, as they shift with the seasons.

Getting there

Memorial Avenue is Pomona's main street, with street parking usually available directly out front and the town centre easy walking. The venue sits mid-block, so you can pair it with a loop of the village on lead either side of a meal.

For the off-lead half of the day, Cooroora Creek Park on Mill Street is the Noosa Shire Council's designated off-leash area in Pomona, a few minutes' walk from the cafe. On the same strip, Trail 518 runs covered pavement tables for dogs, and up the road in Cooroy, Copperhead Restaurant Brewery does dog-friendly perimeter tables with beer brewed on site.
