Pets must be disclosed and approved at the time of booking, and an unreported animal can end the booking without refund. A minimum pet-stay fee applies to approved bookings and appears on your invoice; third-party sources report roughly AU$150 per stay, but confirm the current figure when you book. Only specific properties take dogs, with pet-friendly units listed at Little Collins in the CBD and at other properties in suburbs such as Southbank and Port Melbourne, so filter for pet-friendly on the StayCentral site rather than assuming.

House rules are firm: dogs must be toilet-trained to go outside, arrive freshly groomed and odour-free, stay off all furniture and beds, and bring their own bedding, bowls and toys. They cannot be left unattended in the apartment, and extra laundry or cleaning fees apply if pet hair ends up on linen or towels. Damage beyond normal cleaning is charged against your security deposit.

Pepsi: filter for pet-friendly first, then declare the dog in the booking itself, a city apartment with strata rules forgives nothing that was not approved.

The place

These are self-contained apartments, which suits longer stays: a full kitchen for dog meals and medications, a laundry for muddy towels, and a separate space so the dog settles while you work. The pet-friendly buildings sit close to the CBD grid, with trams across the centre and the Yarra riverside paths an easy walk for on-lead exercise.

For a free run, Fawkner Park Dog Off Leash Area is south of the grid and the Point Park Dog Off-leash Area serves the Docklands end of town. On-lead walks start at the door with the Yarra River Short City Loop. If you are crossing town, Oro espresso in Carlton makes a good coffee stop en route.
