Surf Beach Holiday Park

Surf Beach Holiday Park sits on the headland above Kiama's main surf beach, and it is one of the few places in town where you can wake up to ocean views with your dog in tow. It is run by Kiama Coast Holiday Parks, with cabins, powered sites, a camp kitchen and direct access to the sand, but dogs are only part of the picture for part of the year, so timing is everything.

Dogs at the park

Dogs are welcome on selected sites and in a limited number of designated cabins, and the dates matter more than the room type: pet bookings are generally taken outside NSW school holidays and long weekends only. Inside the park, dogs stay on a lead at all times and you are expected to pick up and bin waste straight away. Pets are kept clear of the non-designated cabins, amenity blocks, the pool and the playground.

There is no published pet surcharge, so confirm the pet fee and the exact pet-approved site or cabin for your dates at booking rather than assuming. Large or restricted breeds may be excluded, so ask before you lock in a peak-adjacent weekend that turns out to be a long weekend.

Max: the booking window is the whole game here. Outside school holidays and long weekends you are fine; on any other date, ring ahead and get the pet approval in writing.

Worth knowing

The strong point is the position. You are close to Kiama's beaches, an easy walk from the town centre cafes and on the doorstep of the coastal walk. Council signage sets the on-lead and off-lead beach rules nearby, so read it before you unclip. The 1, 2 and 3 bedroom cabins are self contained with reverse cycle air conditioning, which makes the stay comfortable outside the summer rush.

Getting there and parking

The park is on the Kiama headland, roughly a two minute drive or a short walk from the town centre, and parking is at your site or cabin. Kiama is about 90 minutes south of Sydney via the Princes Motorway, and the railway station is within walking distance if you are arriving by train.

Close by with the dogs

For a morning coffee within walking distance, Diggies Kiama sits right on the water, and the Loves Bay via Kiama Blowholes walk puts the famous blowhole country under your dog's paws. If pet cabins are booked out for your dates, Werri Beach Holiday Park at Gerringong is a short drive south.
