Hotel X Brisbane sits on the Story Bridge end of Fortitude Valley, a design-led hotel with a rooftop pool, bar and restaurant overhead, and a named dog program underneath it all. The Fetch & Stay package, the designated rooms and the dog gear waiting in the room make this one of the more structured city stays for dog owners. The flip side is that nothing gets arranged on arrival, so the booking itself is where your dog plans happen.

Dogs at Hotel X

Dogs stay under the Fetch & Stay package, booked together with a designated dog friendly room: the 1 King Standard or the 1 King Standard Balcony. The limits are stated plainly. Fifteen kilograms per dog, two dogs maximum per room, dogs only, and the hotel asks that you confirm numbers and breed at the time of booking. The package carries an added cost on top of the room rate, so confirm the current fee and inclusions when you reserve.

Once you are in, the kit is supplied: a pet bed, food and water bowls, clean-up bags and a dog-friendly mini bar. Dogs are leashed in the lobby and other public areas, daily housekeeping applies to pet rooms, and any damage goes on your card. If management receives more than two noise complaints about your dog, you will be asked to make other arrangements for it.

Max: two noise complaints is a low bar if your dog grumbles when left alone. This hotel wants dogs attended rather than parked, so plan your days around it or take turns.

Worth knowing

The rooftop venues and all food and beverage areas are people-only, so the pool, bar and restaurant upstairs are off limits to your dog. Dogs also cannot be left unattended for extended periods, which shapes who this suits: travellers who can trade off, or who already have a plan for the dog while they head up for a drink. If your dog is anywhere near the 15kg line, ring ahead before booking rather than hoping the scales are kind.

The hotel's position near the river is the practical draw.
