The Woolshed

The Woolshed occupies a converted wool store on Helen Street in Teneriffe, sharing the heritage building with a cycling crew and running as a casual coffee-and-toast collective rather than a white-tablecloth cafe. That informality carries over to its dog policy: the communal seating is relaxed and dogs are a familiar sight, which makes this a natural stop on the Teneriffe river circuit.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the casual communal seating areas, on lead, beside your table. The open-plan layout and shared tables mean foot traffic from cyclists and regulars, so a settled dog does better than a social butterfly here. Bring your own water bowl to be safe, though a bowl on the ground is common at cafes this side of the river. It works for a quick flat white stop or a longer morning sit.

The menu

Coffee is the headline, roasted locally and poured every way from batch filter to oatmilk cold brew, with a cult coffee soft serve for warm mornings. The food list keeps things simple and high quality: sourdough baked fresh with toppings like myrtle ricotta and lemon curd or avo, feta and dukkah, plus banana bread, crumpets with honey and rotating specials such as breakfast burgers. Early starts run through to early afternoon, and it draws a strong regular crowd, so the breakfast rush is real.

Getting there and parking

You will find it at 15 Helen Street, a short walk from the Teneriffe ferry terminal and the Brisbane Riverwalk, which is the nicest way to arrive. Street parking exists but fills during the breakfast peak; the ferry or a walk from Fortitude Valley beats circling for a spot.

While you're out there

Pair it with the water: the New Farm Riverwalk runs right past Teneriffe, and the Teneriffe to Howard Smith Wharves walk extends it toward the city. Waterfront Dog Park at Newstead gives an off-lead run a few minutes north, and HG Newstead is the other dog-friendly coffee stop nearby.
