HG Newstead (Hallowed grounds cafe)

HG Newstead, also known as Hallowed Grounds, is a Scandinavian-inspired cafe on Doggett Street in Newstead with a casual backyard-style courtyard out back, and the courtyard is where dogs are welcome on a leash. The coffee is Zest, and the food leans Nordic: smorrebrod, pastries and fresh juice, with cakes and matcha for the non-traditionalists. The plant-filled backyard feel suits a slow morning. Hours run 5:30am to 1:30pm on weekdays and 6:30am to 1:30pm on weekends, so it is a breakfast-and-early-lunch venue that closes mid-afternoon.

It is at 11 Doggett Street, Newstead. Street parking on Doggett Street and Wyandra Street is your best bet, though it fills on weekend mornings, and it is an easy walk from Teneriffe and inner Newstead if you are local.

Close by with the dogs

The Waterfront Dog Park is close for an off-leash session either side of coffee, Hoblers Bridge Reserve Fenced Dog Park adds a fenced option, and the Teneriffe Riverwalk is a short stroll for an on-lead wander.
