Estate Lodges Caravan and Camping

Estate Lodges Caravan and Camping is a family-owned campground on a former cattle farm at Flying Fox, in the Scenic Rim south of Brisbane. It is informal, off-grid-style bush camping with creek-side sites, fire pits and farm animals still grazing, and it is the sort of place where a dog is genuinely part of the trip rather than an exception to the rules.

Dogs at Estate Lodges

Dogs are welcome across the camping areas and on sites. They must stay on a leash and under control at all times because cattle and goats still graze the property, and hosts ask that you mention you are bringing a dog when you book. Owners are expected to clean up after their pets. Potable water is on site, so bowls can be filled from the tap. Indicative pricing sits around AU$61 for two guests, but pet arrangements and site choice go through the hosts when you book, and it is worth requesting a site closer to the creek for the shade and water views.

Max: Keep your dog leashed near the paddocks. Farm animals can trigger a chase instinct even in well-trained dogs, and the leash rule here is not negotiable.

Worth knowing

This is rustic camping, not a polished resort: natural bushland terrain that can turn muddy after rain, clean but basic facilities, and a quiet, family-friendly crowd. Avoid booking right after heavy rain because country roads can flood and sites get boggy. In dry weather it is a solid Scenic Rim pick, with fire pits on the sites and bush tracks to wander with the dog on lead.

Getting there and parking

Flying Fox is a rural locality in the Scenic Rim, reached off the roads between Beaudesert and Boonah, roughly an hour and a half from Brisbane. Access is via country roads, so check conditions in wet weather, and you drive in to your site.

Close by with the dogs

If the farm is full, Canungra Showgrounds and Camping is the other dog-tolerant camping option in the district. Canungra Dog Park and the Tamborine Mountain Leash-Free Dog Area are the nearest dedicated off-lead spaces for a day trip.
