Pericoe Retreat

Pericoe Retreat is a country B&B-style property on 25 acres about 12 kilometres from central Dubbo, with a pool, a tennis court and a quiet rural outlook. Dogs are taken, but the policy has structure to it: the main Pericoe Suite is not pet friendly, while the retreat's other accommodation is, so where you sleep depends on your booking.

Dogs at the retreat

The pet-friendly units are the self-contained ones, including the Garden Studio and the Olive Grove Cottage, each sleeping up to four. A $20 pet fee per booking applies, with a maximum of two dogs, and animals are not allowed to sleep on the bedding or the lounges, so pack your own pet bedding. The most important step is telling the retreat in advance that you are bringing a dog: the owners reserve the right to cancel if you arrive with an undeclared pet, so note it at booking and confirm the pet-friendly unit you have been given.

The place itself

The units are self-contained, which makes feeding and managing a dog simple compared with a B&B room, and the 25 acres of gardens and open space give a dog room for a controlled leg stretch on the property. It is a quiet, comfort-first place rather than a resort, pitched at couples and small groups who want country air without losing touch with town. On-site parking sits beside the units, and a car is essential: nothing here is walkable.

Out and about with the dog

In town, the Tracker Riley Cycleway is the go-to on-lead riverside walk, and the South Dubbo Park fenced dog park handles off-lead time safely. Dubbo Regional Council also designates several leash-free reserves, so check its current list if you want somewhere closer to your route.
