Lake Hume Holiday Park - A Great Aussie Experience

Lake Hume Holiday Park sits on the Riverina Highway at Bowna, about 20 to 25 minutes from Albury, with direct access to the Lake Hume foreshore for lakeside walks and paddles. Unlike most resort-style parks, it is a genuine dog option rather than a dog-tolerant one: pets are welcome on powered and unpowered sites and in a limited number of designated pet-friendly cabins. The trade-off is that everything runs through the park manager, so registration at booking is not optional.

Dogs at the park

Pets are accepted at the manager's discretion and must be registered when you book by calling the park directly on 02 6020 3236. On sites, dogs stay leashed whenever they are outside your van or tent, with a maximum of two animals per site. In cabins, only the designated pet-friendly cabins take dogs, a fee of $15 per pet per night covers the extra cleaning, and the cap is again two animals. No weight limit is published, but dogs must be well behaved and under control, they cannot be left unattended at the site or in a cabin, and no dog runs or enclosures can be set up. Confirm which cabins are pet-friendly and the current fee when you call.

Max: register the dog when you book, not at the gate. Cabin allocations get made at booking time and turning up unannounced risks losing the cabin even when sites are free.

The park itself

This is a family resort built around water: a pool and water park, jumping pillow, camp kitchen, tennis court, games room and splash park, alongside drive-through sites with generous parking for big rigs. Dogs are kept out of the shared facilities, so the pool deck, games room, laundry, amenities, playground and BBQ areas are all no-go zones. There is no fenced dog run on site, which makes the lake foreshore your exercise plan. The topics guests return to are the lake views and the camp kitchen.

Close by with the dogs

Bowna Waters Reserve on the same shore of Lake Hume is a quiet spot for on-lead walks and shallow-water paddles. In Albury, Oddies Creek leash-free area is the town's big riverside run and Belvoir Park Dog Park serves the Wodonga side. For lunch in Albury, Green Zebra and Canvas Eatery are both solid stops.
