Oddies Creek Leash Free Area

Oddies Creek Park sits off Union Road in South Albury, on open grassland beside the Murray River. It is a designated off-leash area with river access, which makes it a proper run-and-swim spot rather than just a fenced pen.

The rules. The parkland is off-leash and your dog must stay under effective voice control. Put the lead back on around the children's playground and the barbecue areas. The off-leash grass is unfenced along the riverbank, so this suits a dog with a reliable recall rather than a bolter. Owners must pick up after their dogs.

What is there. Shaded trees, open green space, drinking fountains, picnic tables, sheltered BBQ areas and public toilets. Bins are provided, but carry spare bags in case they are full.

The water. There is natural riverbank access where dogs can wade and splash. The Murray carries current, so keep an eye on any dog heading in and do not let a keen swimmer push out into the flow.

Getting there. Drive in at the end of Union Road, easily reached from central Albury and the Hume Highway by following the riverfront signs. Parking is generally ample, though it can be squeezed during site upgrades. Public transit to the site is limited.

Nearby with the dogs. The Albury CBD is about five minutes across the river with dog-friendly cafes and pet-friendly motels, so it is easy to fold a coffee or an overnight into the trip.

Weekend mornings and late weekday afternoons are busiest, when parking fills fastest. For a quieter run with an anxious dog, aim for the middle of a weekday.
