The River Deck Cafe

The River Deck Cafe holds the best dog seat in Albury: the covered decking at Noreuil Park, looking straight down the Murray. Well behaved dogs are welcome on the outdoor decking, a policy visitors report often enough that it is a standing part of the river-walk routine. Hours are 9am to 3pm daily, so think long lunches rather than dinners, with the park itself open all day around you.

The menu runs past standard cafe fare. Fish and chips is the classic river-side order, the gnocchi and beef cheek earn repeat mentions, and there are gluten free options across the menu. The parkland setting means tables are spaced out and there is room for a dog to settle without being in anyone's way. Service is casual and counter-based, matching the setting.

The dog setup

Noreuil Park does the heavy lifting. You park along Noreuil Parade, walk through the river red gums to the deck, and the leash-friendly parkland gives you somewhere to stretch legs before or after eating. The decking is covered, which keeps summer sun and passing showers off the tables, and the grass strip between deck and river is where most dogs end up lying down. In hot weather, confirm water and shade at the table; the deck faces west and afternoon sun reaches parts of it.

The river corridor makes this an easy full outing. Oddies Creek Leash Free Area is a short drive back towards town and the go-to off-leash run on this side of the border.
