The Burrow

The Burrow is a casual bar and eatery at 52 Russell Street in West End, built around pizzas, a rotating craft beer list and live music on almost every day of the week. The team puts it plainly on their own site: dog-friendly, so bring your pooch down. For a relaxed evening out with the dog at your feet, few Brisbane venues make it easier.

The dog setup

Dogs settle in the outdoor courtyard, which runs to long communal tables and a relaxed, sociable feel. Keep your dog leashed; on live-music nights the room fills and the volume climbs, so a dog that copes with crowds and noise will do best here. Staff will usually help out with water, but carry your own bowl as backup.

Max: Check the gig calendar before you book. A quiet weeknight and a sold-out live-music session are two very different rooms for a noise-sensitive dog.

The vibe

The kitchen does pizzas and burgers alongside a serious non-alcoholic drinks list, and the events calendar runs from live music to comedy and art nights. Hours are 4:30pm until late Monday to Thursday and from midday Friday to Sunday, so this is an evening-and-weekends venue rather than a breakfast stop. It suits dogs that are happy to lounge under a communal table while the room hums around them.

Getting there and parking

The Burrow sits on Russell Street in the West End grid. Street parking on Russell and the surrounding streets tightens up in the evenings, and the Boundary Street bus stops are a couple of minutes away on foot.

Close by with the dogs

Orleigh Park on the river is the obvious off-leash warm-up before dinner, and Posto covers the coffee-and-lunch end of the day. If you are working through the suburb's pubs, The Raven Hotel is the other long-standing dog-friendly drink stop.
