Posto is a neighbourhood cafe at 4/235 Boundary Street, in the thick of West End's main strip. It opens at 6am every day of the week and closes early afternoon, and with dogs welcome at the footpath tables out front, it slots neatly into a lap of the Boundary Street shops or a mid-walk coffee stop.

Dogs join you at the outdoor footpath seating along Boundary Street. Water is usually put out or happily fetched on request, though a portable bowl is worth carrying on a hot morning. The caveat is location: this is one of the livelier stretches in West End, with constant pedestrians, prams and dogs passing the tables, so it best suits a dog that settles rather than one who greets everyone.

The vibe

The coffee is the reason people rate it, consistently well made with a flat white worth the walk, and the short menu covers egg on toast and simple homemade plates. It feels like a local's local: quick service, regulars greeted by name, no fuss. Weekends get busy along the strip, so weekday mornings are the easy version.

Getting there and parking

Boundary Street carries street parking and several bus stops within a short walk, though the kerbside spots get tight on weekends. Coming from the city, it is a short detour off Montague Road, or you can walk it in from South Brisbane along Boundary.

Close by with the dogs

Davies Park by the river is a short stroll for an on-lead walk, and the Saturday West End markets there pair naturally with a morning coffee. For an off-lead run, Orleigh Dog Park sits by the river at the suburb's southern end.
