Bright Eyes Coffee

Bright Eyes Coffee is a small, relaxed cafe in the heart of West End with a leafy outdoor courtyard where dogs are welcome, and a reputation that leans heavily on two things: serious coffee and staff who remember the regulars, dogs included. It opens at 6am, seven days a week, and makes a solid quiet stop on a West End loop.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which has a shady, garden-style feel to it. Keep dogs leashed and close by, since indoor seating is not typically available for pets. Water bowls are usually put out for visiting dogs, but bring your own just in case on a busy day. It is a compact space, so a dog that tucks in beside a chair does best here.

The vibe

The coffee draws people back, and the casual brunch menu covers the classics with smashed avocado and pastries, plus a few things West End does its own way: a homemade beef pie, banh mi, sausage rolls and bruschetta. There is a mocha frappe for the hot mornings. Everything wraps at 1:30pm, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch venue; come early on weekends or you will be waiting.

Bright Eyes sits in central West End. Street parking is available on nearby streets such as Vulture Street, though it gets tight in the morning peak, and bus stops along Vulture Street and Boundary Street are a short walk away.
