Momo Star

Momo Star is a casual Nepalese street-food kitchen on Werribee's main strip at 92 Watton Street, built around a food-truck style setup with open-air seating. Dogs on a leash are welcome in the outdoor area, which makes it an easy quick-bite stop on a Watton Street walk with the dog.

The seating is outdoors and food-truck casual, so a leashed dog settling beside you is normal rather than an exception, and there is no indoor dining room to worry about. There is no dedicated dog menu or water station, so pack your own bowl, and note the setup is minimal, which suits a short stop more than a long session. Keep the leash short while you order, because Watton Street carries buses and steady traffic past the truck.

Worth knowing

The menu is traditional Nepali dumplings done several ways: classic steamed momos, pan-fried kothey, crispy fried and chilli momos, plus jhol momos served in a spicy broth if you want the soup-style version, all finished with the house-made spicy sauce. Chowmein, chatpate and chilli chips fill out the card, and the kitchen is fully halal with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Doors open evenings, from 6pm through to midnight every day of the week, so it works as a late dinner option rather than a lunch spot, and the strip around it stays lively through the evening.

Watton Street is Werribee's dining spine: The South Corner takes dogs at its outdoor tables for breakfast and coffee, and the Bridge Hotel Werribee welcomes dogs out front further up the strip.
