Zero Fox

Zero Fox is a casual craft bar and Japanese-Korean kitchen set at the base of the old London Woolstores building on Vernon Terrace in Teneriffe, and much of its seating is alfresco, which makes it one of the suburb's more reliable dog-friendly options.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the covered outdoor patio and deck seating but not inside the dining room, so plan on patio seating from the start. Keep your dog on a leash and close to the table, and expect a lively, social room, because staff here are known for making a fuss of visiting dogs. Water bowls are generally available on request. It is worth confirming current arrangements when you book, since policies can change.

The vibe

The kitchen turns out Asian street food with a following: chicken katsu sandos, takoyaki, steamed pork baos, okonomiyaki, crispy Korean fried chicken and sushi rolls, with vegetarian and vegan options across the menu. Behind the bar is a rotating line-up of Australian independent craft beers on tap plus cider and a short wine list. Trade runs 12pm to 10pm daily, it operates on a walk-in basis, and Thursday to Saturday evenings are the busy window.

Max: Stick to the patio and keep the leash short near the walkway, foot traffic heading to and from the river gets busy in the evenings.

Getting there and parking

Zero Fox is at 36 Vernon Terrace, Teneriffe. Street parking exists on Vernon Terrace and the surrounding residential streets but gets tight on weekend evenings, so the Teneriffe Ferry Terminal or the CityGlider bus routes through Newstead are the easier approach.

Close by with the dogs

The Teneriffe riverwalk runs straight past the woolstores for an easy leashed stretch before or after a meal.
