Rowdy’s Cafe Rockingham

Rowdy's Cafe Rockingham sits right on the foreshore at 57B Rockingham Beach Road, with the sand, the grassed parkland and the water views to Garden Island all a few steps from its alfresco tables. The cafe is named after the owner's dog Rowdy, and the welcome follows from that: if your doggo is as good and well behaved as Rowdy, the venue says, then bring them along.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor alfresco seating, not inside the dining room. Keep your dog on a lead and settled beside the table; the tables sit close to the beach path, so there is regular foot traffic and other dogs passing by. Water is brought out on request rather than kept permanently on the ground, so ask the staff when you sit down. Mornings are the calmest window if your dog is still learning café manners.

Worth knowing

Rowdy's opens Wednesday to Sunday from 7:30am to 2:30pm and closes Monday and Tuesday, so plan a midweek-to-weekend visit rather than a Monday brunch run. The menu leans breakfast and brunch: the Rowdys Big Breaky with pork and cheddar sausage and house-made beans, the Chorizo Scramble with house-made chilli jam, plus eggs benedict and a much-ordered steak sandwich. The cafe is fully licensed, with tap beer, wine and cocktails for the humans while the dog takes the shade.

Getting there and parking

The cafe fronts the Rockingham Beach Road foreshore strip, with the beach, the playground and the waterside walking path all immediately adjacent. Foreshore parking runs along Rockingham Beach Road and the side streets, and it fills quickly on sunny weekends, so arrive early for a breakfast slot. The path along the water makes an easy on-lead warm-up lap before you order.

The Cape Peron Loop Trail is a short drive south and pairs a foreshore breakfast with a coastal walk. Closer in, the Rockingham Fenced Dog Park covers the off-lead run, while Spill the Beans @ Palm Beach Jetty and Pink Duck give you alternates along the same stretch of coast.
