5 Boroughs Rosalie

5 Boroughs is a New York-inspired bar and eatery at 155 Baroona Road in Rosalie Village, the compact dining strip on the Paddington side of Brisbane's inner west. It is a casual spot built around burgers, ribs and beers on tap, and the street-front tables out front are where dogs are welcome, which makes it an easy lunch or dinner stop after a wander through the village.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the footpath seating out the front rather than inside the main dining room. Staff are generally happy to bring out a water bowl, though packing a collapsible one covers the busier services. Keep your dog on a lead and tucked in beside the table so the footpath stays clear for passing foot traffic, and pick a table away from the busiest stretch of pavement if your dog is unsure about other dogs walking past.

The menu

The kitchen leans into American comfort food: a long burger list including the Manhattan Royale with Cheese and the fried chicken King of Queens, buffalo wings, baby back ribs, mac and cheese croquettes and loaded fries. Beers run on tap and happy hour goes from 4pm to 6pm daily. Doors open at midday, trading to 8:30pm most nights and 9pm on Friday and Saturday.

Getting there and parking

Rosalie Village sits off Baroona Road, and free street parking runs along Baroona Road and the surrounding side streets, though it tightens at weekend dinner services. The venue is an easy walk if you are coming on foot from Paddington or Milton.

Close by with the dogs

Frew Park in Milton is a short drive for an off-leash run before or after a meal, and the Milton Park fenced dog park is another secure option for a proper leg-stretch. If you are building a dog-friendly circuit around the inner west, the Hope and Anchor is a pub option in the same suburb, while Benny's American Burger in Milton covers the burger itch on the other side of the hill.
