Stomping Ground Brewery & Beer Hall - Morris Moor

Stomping Ground's Moorabbin beer hall occupies a converted cigarette factory inside the Morris Moor precinct at 9 Cochranes Road, and it is one of the bigger dog-friendly rooms in Melbourne's south-east. The venue's own Moorabbin page welcomes dogs on the covered outdoor deck and across the beer garden, and the hall runs 11:30am to late seven days, pushing past midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The dog setup

Dogs stay on lead in the outdoor zones and skip the main warehouse seating indoors, but the covered deck is extensive and weatherproof, so this works year round rather than only on dry days. Water bowls appear around the garden and the staff are practised with canine guests. On busy days, book and ask for an outdoor table. One heads-up: live music kicks off from 6pm on Friday and Saturday nights, so sound-sensitive dogs are better off on a weekday afternoon.

The kitchen

The draw is the beer: more than 25 rotating taps of Stomping Ground's own range plus guests, with ginger beer among the favourites. The kitchen runs a wood-fired pizza oven and pub classics like schnitzel and mussels, and the cheese-covered pretzels have a following of their own. It is a family-and-dog setup, complete with a kids' cubby on the garden side.

Getting there and a walk after

There is extensive free on-site parking across the Morris Moor complex, and Moorabbin station is within walking distance or a short bus ride. For an off-lead leg stretch, the Moorabbin Reserve Dog Off Leash Area at Linton Street is about five minutes away, with G.R. Bricker Reserve as a second option.
